What Is Precision Sand Casting?
We use a “no bake sand” to make high-quality sand castings as quickly as possible. Sand casting is the most commonly used casting process, which uses sand molds to form metal parts, and it is great for forming any more complex metal components.
What Types of Products Commonly Use Sand Casting?
The automobile industry uses sand casting frequently for both small and large parts. Some of the smaller parts that use sand casting are pulleys, gears, and crankshafts. Some of the larger parts include engine shafts and transmission cases.
What are the Stages of Sand Casting?
The first stage is the mold making process, in which we pack sand into each half of the mold and then remove the pattern. This creates a cavity that forms the casting remains. We then prepare the mold before it is filled with the molten metal by lubricating the surface and clamping together the mold halves. Next, we pour the molten metal into the mold and allow it to cool. Once the molten metal reaches a sufficiently cooler temperature, we remove the metal and trim the excess material.
